The most instagrammable cities in Europe: quick guide 2024
This post is for all the photography lovers out there! Are you looking for a quick guide to the top Instagram spots in the most Instagrammable cities in Europe? I’ve got you, boo! As a solo female traveler who has spent nearly a decade scoping out some of Europe’s most beautiful cities, I’ve also become an avid photographer with a penchant for discovering the places that will set your Instagram feed on fire. This quick guide will help you locate the best Instagram spots in Europe’s most Instagrammable cities fast, so you won’t miss a single iconic photo. Plus, this guide includes specific Google Maps locations of every attraction, the most photogenic times of year to visit, and my personal protips for getting the best photos. Let’s go!
How to make sure you take the best photos of the most Instagrammable cities in Europe
- Get up early. The most iconic Instagrammable places in Europe get crowded with tourists as the day goes by.
- Use an unusual angle. Don’t just point and shoot. Take a moment to set up your shot, and consider changing it up a bit by framing your shot with your camera held down low, up high, or peeking out from behind something interesting
- Focus on the details. Everyone’s got that classic photo of the Eiffel Tower or the Trevi Fountain. Change it up a bit by focusing on a small, unexpected detail that other people may not notice.
- Use the Rule of 3rds. Photography buffs swear by this one. As you set up your photo, imagine splitting your frame into thirds, i.e if you’re photographing a landscape: ⅓ sky, ⅓ trees, ⅓ grass. The human eye is said to find this ratio the most visually pleasing!
- Use a tripod and a Bluetooth remote. This will let you have complete control over your selfie game if you’re traveling solo!
- Always carry a backup battery pack. It’s no fun running out of juice on the go.

The walls of the garden are decorated with a series of eye-poppingly gorgeous frescoes depicting the legend of the founding of the church. Tourists are drawn to Fraumünster’s church from all over the world to see the beautiful stained glass windows designed by artist Marc Chagall. Photography is not allowed inside the church sanctuary so getting a photo of the windows is tricky.
